@ St. Nick’s Pub (Steve Wallace)
Steve Wallace proves once again that he is a force to be reckoned with in today’s soul scene. St. Nick’s Pub is not your typical bar/venue. This local pub showcases jazz artists both new and old whose style is by way of Eddie Harris, Andrew Hill, & Jaco Pastorius. The locals here are not your typical show goers either. Patrons of St. Nick’s Pub are quite familiar with rare soul and classic jazz. These regulars witnessed first hand the musical genius of soul greats Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, James Brown & Candi Staton. It will take great talent and awesome material to get a rise out of this crowd.
Steve Wallace grabbed and held the attention of the seasoned soul crowd of St. Nick’s Pub with a delightful set in which he performed songs from his critically acclaimed debut “Come with the real” and he also performed soul classics such as Stevie Wonder’s “Golden Lady”, Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, & Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On”. Steve also blessed the crowd with songs from his up-coming project “Urban Soul Sessions”; from the sound of these new songs be prepared for a album that will dissect and re-assemble the elements of soul.
Steve Wallace at St. Nick’s Pub was an intimate evening of soul that should not have been missed. Steve Wallace is a genre bending artist who incorporates equal parts of soul, hip-hop & jazz to create a whole new brand of soul that will stand the test of time.
